What Are The Newest Carnival Ships? In Order

To further confuse things, Carnival has a practice of renaming some of its older ships after they have undergone renovations. Plus, the cruise line sometimes buys ships from other cruise lines and adds them to the fleet. Upon debuting, the Carnival Jubilee is set to sail from the Port of Galveston on a year-round basis.

A nod to the address where Carnival Cruise Line was born 50 years ago, Carnival Celebration's 820 Biscayne zone is designed with a purposeful Miami vibe. Located on Deck 8 midship, this new area is a dining mecca, featuring Rudi's Seagrill (seafood), Cucina del Capitano (Italian), Miami Slice (pizza) and Deco Deli (Latin-inspired sandwiches). The area also includes Bar 820, serving Cuban-inspired coffee drinks and cocktails. The room stewards worked hard to make sure every cabin was sparkling and set up just perfectly.

P&O Cruises

The vessel was constructed in Helsinki, Finland and was completed in 2004. After the additions, Carnival Cruise Line will have a fleet of 27 ships. What’s yet to be seen is which ports these ships will sail or what they will be named.

Where will Carnival Celebration sail?

Carnival Spirit was the very first ship built in the popular Spirit-class and was a totally new design for the cruise line. This class allows guest sailings in other regions such as Panama, Alaska and even Northern Europe. The Carnival Spirit has also been mainly based in Australia in recent years. The vessel is the third Dream-class cruise ship that entered service in 2012.

Princess Cruises has grown to become one of the premier cruise lines in the world. They currently have 18 ships in their fleet with another four on order. A nine-day round-trip cruise from New York to the Bahamas departing on Feb. 2, 2024, starts at $449 per person based on double occupancy, according to Carnival's website, though prices vary by itinerary, stateroom, and other factors. The fare includes most food, drinks like iced tea and regular coffee and more.

Carnival Celebration is based in Miami, Florida, and also takes the name of a previous Carnival cruise ship, Celebration, that was part of the holiday class. She wasn’t built for the cruise line but was the first ship for the newly formed Ted Arison Carnival Cruise Line at the time. The ship started sailing for Carnival in 1972, and the “Fun Ships” have kept coming ever since! Mardi Gras was over 27,200 gross tons, a huge difference from the new Excel-class vessels.

Carnival Jubilee

Now, she helps over 1 million people per month to plan their perfect cruise holidays. The first was built in 1987 and sold to Iberocruises in 2008 before being transferred to Costa Cruises in 2014 and finally being scrapped in 2021. The latest ship to join the Carnival fleet was Carnival Celebration.

The ship embarked on her maiden voyage from Southampton UK and I was lucky enough to be invited on board for a tour. It also means that Carnival can take on some of Costa’s ships, without having to change too much of the decor or add the signature ‘whale tail’ funnel that Carnival ships are known for. The third ship in Carnival’s Excel Class, Carnival Jubilee, will launch in 2023. This ship will be almost identical to Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. Carnival Jubliee will sail out of Galveston, Texas offering week-long Caribbean itineraries. With new ships being launched at a rate close to one per year, it can be hard to keep track of which are the newest ships.

Rudi’s Seagrill™ is the brainchild of cookbook author and master chef Rudi Sodamin. He has years of experience pleasing palates of vacationers… and this guy loves serving up a smile as much as Carnival does! But he’s serious about seafood, and an evening at Rudi’s proves it through the courses. Enjoy selections like seafood bisque and crab-stuffed lobster tail imperial — all served with an elegant flair that pays proper tribute to the beauty of the ocean from which so much fun, and flavor, arises.

“I think people see this as a more elevated, elegant ship,” Duffy said. For a full list of Carnival ships, check out this List of Carnival Ships From Newest to Oldest. Launched in 1999, the ship was extensively renovated and renamed in 2019. There’s so much to enjoy on Carnival Horizon including an IMAX cinema, the Dr. Seuss WaterWorks splash park and the SkyRide aerial bike track.

The area was revamped and renamed Celebration Central area on this ship, decorated with color-changing lights designed to look like confetti. Guest services and shore excursions have been moved out of this central area to a more out-of-the-way spot on Deck 8 aft. To be fair, most of Carnival Celebration's modern updates were debuted on sister vessel Mardi Gras, which launched in 2021. Carnival Celebration is now the second ship in the fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas.

Haute cuisine meets atmosphere at Fahrenheit 555™, a dining experience that stands toe-to-toe with some of the best steakhouses on land. Ours features your choice of steak cuts, lobster, lamb and more… and inside, there’s even a full bar that pours great pairings. These are the building blocks of an amazing experience — delectable elements that combine with great service to offer an evening to remember. When cruise ships are in Texas waters, the onboard bars are only allowed to serve alcohol that was obtained in Texas. That means the types of alcohol available could be limited when Carnival Jubilee (or any other ship) is in port. If you're loyal to a particular brand of vodka, for example, you might have to switch things up and try some Tito's if you're hankering for a tipple before you set sail.
